Jurjen Heij promoted to Dr. Heij
23 June 2025Last Thursday, Spinoza PhD student Jurjen Heij has successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “A Needle in the Haystack: Methods and Applications for Line-scanning fMRI” at the VU University. Jurjen used ultra-high-resolution fMRI line-scanning to investigate how signals travel through layers of the human visual cortex. By precisely targeting small cortical patches, the work bridges brain imaging and neurophysiology, opening new doors for studying neural processes at very high spatial and temporal resolutions.
