Veni grant for Anouk Schrantee

17 July 2018

Anouk Schrantee has been awarded a Veni Grant of €250,000 by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). The grant provides the laureates with the opportunity to further elaborate their own ideas during a period of three years.

Anouk will be studying the brain’s response to medication using pharmacological MRI. “The exact brain response to psychotropic medication is difficult to investigate using regular brain scans” says Anouk. The Veni Grant will be used to develop a new method to zoom in on the activation of brain cells during psychotropic drug administration. This method will advance treatment monitoring and the development of psychotropic medication.

VENI

The Veni is awarded by NWO every year. A total of 1,115 researchers submitted an admissible research proposal for funding. 154 of these have now been granted. The grant is one of the three types of grant in the Innovational Research Incentives Scheme. The other two are the Vici Grant and the Vidi Grant. The Innovational Research Incentives Scheme is intended as a stimulus for scientific talent.
