Yoshifumi Mori receives Fellowship from Takeda Science Foundation

23 October 2026

Yoshifumi Mori won a second Fellowship from the Takeda Science Foundation for his work investigating the biological origins of dissociative disorder.

Dissociative disorder, usually arising from adverse environments and severe trauma, is a refractory disease that can manifest itself in various ways, including depersonalisation, amnesia, syncope, and in extreme cases, as multiple personality disorder.

Dr. Mori, a neuroanatomist and medical doctor from Japan, approaches the pathophysiology of dissociative disorder using multimodal MRI techniques. The current project will involve morphological characterisation specific brain structures known to be involved in trauma-related disorders, including the deep cerebellar nuclei. He also probes changes in perception in these patients in-vivo using computational models.
